ABOUT US

​

  The Literacy Volunteers of Troup County has been providing literacy services to the Troup County area for nearly 40 years. We provide free tutoring for people 4th grade and older.

   

  We offer one-on-one tutoring in reading with a program called Reading Horizons, basic math to Algebra, basic computer skills, typing, Internet, and Microsoft Office.

​

   Also, we offer ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).  

 

  We offer free training for all volunteer tutors.

​

  We support education, health, and income by enabling adults  to achieve personal goals through literacy.

​

  We are committed to:

​       a. The personal growth of our students.

       b. The effective use of our volunteers.

       c. Strengthening and improving our organization.



  We are an affiliate of the national organization ProLiteracy and the National Literacy Directory.

Literacy Volunteers of Troup County's mission is to actively serve as an outreach to people throughout our community who desire to learn or improve their skills in reading, math, computer, and ESL. Through personal one-on-one tutoring, we seek to empower our students to reach their goals and live a more fulfilling life.

WHAT WE DO

We offer a computer-based reading skills program with one-on-one tutoring. (No computer skills necessary).



We offer tutoring in math, basic computer literacy skills, keyboarding (typing), and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

OUR COMMUNITY

We offer free training and are currently seeking volunteer tutors in Reading, Math, Basic Computer and ESOL
